Hilton Garden Inn Manchester Downtown

**edit: We talked to the front desk. Because they were fully booked, they weren't able to give us a new room. The front desk attendant was very understanding and nice, and was able to discount part of our stay due to the inconvenience (the house cleaning staff had already left for the day). Honestly, I think they are overbooked and understaffed, causing mistakes due to the workload. Otherwise, their customer service in-house was good. Review: The front desk was nice, but I am not entirely sure that our room was cleaned. There was hair in the bathtub, sand in the carpet, and half of a PILL left on the lamp. Honestly, the two stars are only because check-in was easy. Otherwise, I would not recommend this hotel unless you want to question if you're sleeping in used sheets.

Just checked out from a wonderful 3 night stay here. The hotel was very conveniently located close to I-293 as well as the downtown Manchester area including all of the local colleges & universities. There was plenty of free parking for all guests. I had a room that overlooked the Delta Dental stadium, which I highly recommend because it was a great view and you could also see a little glimpse of the Merrimack River adjacent to the hotel & stadium. The room was very clean, spacious, & quiet. The only thing that I would mention that could be improved is at Hilton Garden Inns there is no free breakfast like similar Hilton chains however there is a restaurant in the lobby, but it didn’t seem to be a popular choice among guests as it was a fixed rate per person and didn’t seem to appealing. It would be nice if they offered a simple free breakfast option or at least a simple menu where you could purchase an individual breakfast item instead of the $19 per person all you can eat. Other than that I would highly recommend staying here the next time you visit Manchester, NH.

Day one, they forgot to clean my room. The same thing happened to my coworker. Photos of my room AFTER it was cleaned on day two...a dead bug, garbage UNDER what they considered a made bed, and no towels restocked even though the desk said they should be. The shuttle isn't available until 4:30 p.m. The in-room coffee and the lobby coffee are the worst I have ever tasted. The bartender was going to help me when he was darn good and ready and not a second before. Everything in the lobby is covered in crumbs, dirt, and dog hair. 100% do NOT recommend this place.

The staff were all friendly & as helpful as policy allowed. Housekeeping seemed to be limited to providing the minimum service, e.g. if we needed more bathroom linens & asked for more towels, we received 2 bath towels, but no hand towels or face cloths. Trash would only be removed if we specifically asked for that service. The guest laundry has only 1 washer & dryer, and the dryer had been out of order for over a week. The hot tub spa was closed for maintenance all summer. The website erroneously lists room service under Dining. We had a great view of the baseball field & the home games. The rooms are typical of a hotel that's 20 years old and well-maintained. The bathroom is not friendly toward the elderly, as the tub is raised.

Inflated prices, I paid about $470/night to stay from 11/17/23-11/18/23 (arrived around 12am on the 18th and checked out around 9:30am on the 18th) for a graduation, when I asked politely if they could comp the $19/person breakfast, the hotel front desk staff (Jaycee and trainer) and Hilton customer service representative supervisor (Mike) refused, as they require you to purchase breakfast separately with your hotel stay. I want to write a fair and accurate view, in doing so, I must say that all of the staff that I directly spoke to were very professional, the room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. However, I would NEVER stay here again, as the policies they put in place enforce making profit over being caring, understanding and hospitable towards their customer. Hilton's vision statement is: "To fill the earth with the light and warmth of hospitality –by delivering exceptional experiences – every hotel, every guest, every time." That was NOT what I experienced whatsoever. The price of the hotel room was already inflated, yet they still prioritized price gouging over $40 ($19/person for breakfast) to make our stay better. I choose not to support businesses like this, book somewhere else, the other hotels in the area aren't that far from the university and likely show more care, consideration and hospitality towards their customers.
